Morocco Child Poverty Study Steering Committee meeting on July 8th 2008.

The Moroccon child poverty steering committee held its third meeting on Tuesday, July 8th, 2008. New members from the Ministry of Health and the High Commission of Planning joined the meeting. The committee discussed challenges in accessing datasets within the envisaged timeline, leading to some delays in the national analysis. The committee agreed to use data from the MICS (2006-2007) & DHS (2003-2004). Given that the LSMS will only be ready in 2009, the committee discussed the possibility of updating the country report next year. The committee also discussed an advocacy strategy for the report and recommended that policy dialogues should be organized from September onwards to disseminate findings, to raise awareness of the strategic value of the study, and to make child poverty and disparities a national priority. The meeting minutes, transcribed in French, are available here.
